We’re building editorial products here at NewCo, and we’re looking for a creative editorial leader to drive this critical dimension of the business. The editor in chief will work closely with the CEO John Battelle and other senior managers to develop the NewCo’s editorial strategy, shape the products and build a first-class editorial operation. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding writer and editor who is familiar with business world and especially the entrepreneurial economy. He or she will have a passion for the next big narrative in our economy, be a great team player with strong leadership and management skills, and have a burning desire to create best-in-class editorial offerings about some of the most important issues of our time. The ability work well under deadline pressure and make good judgements on a wide range of editorial and business matters is essential. Commitment to the highest standards of journalistic accuracy and integrity is also crucial.
At least five years of professional journalism experience is required. A background in business or technology news would be a strong asset, as would experience in managing reporters and editors. Familiarity with digital publishing techniques, including social media platforms and contemporary CMS and database tools, is required. The position is based in San Francisco. Compensation includes base salary, bonus, equity and benefits.
